I quit my job and sold my beautiful house to live in an RV with my wife & 4 kids – I want my boys to see the real world | The Sun

RAISING four young children can be a handful for any parent, especially when you're all living together in an RV.

Landon Jones, 41, and his wife Kami, 34, have spent the past year and a half traveling the United States with their sons.

Speaking exclusively to The U.S. Sun ahead of the family's next adventure, Landon described the decision to sell their Colorado farmhouse and trek 16,000 miles across 19 states.

After having Julius, eight, Winston, six, Otis, four, and Arlo, three, the couple began to reevaluate their priorities.

As Kami stayed at home with the boys, Landon found himself constantly busy with work.

The family decided to spend some time reconnecting with each other at a Christian camp in the Colorado mountains.

"There were no cell phones, no internet, and at the end of the week we just really could not ignore the convictions we were feeling," Landon said.

Shortly after, the couple put their home on the market and invested in an RV.

He explained: "Sacrifices need to be made to truly prioritize the things that matter most.

"And that meant getting rid of, unloading, and letting go of some of the things in the world, such as this big beautiful home on some acreage in Colorado.

"Selling off the farm, selling the vehicles and the toys, the ATVs and dirt bikes and motorcycles, all of the things we had accumulated over the years."

Landon and Kami wanted to show their sons the world beyond their Colorado community.

He said: "The rest of the world doesn't look like this bubble that they only know.

"We thought, let's get outside of this and expose them to other things to shape their perspective, to hopefully raise warriors.

"[So] they understand what they stand for, what they believe in, and they're not afraid to fight."

The family wanted to instill their faith in their sons by teaching them to not only appreciate their blessings but to spread them.

According to Landon, the four young Jones boys thrived during their time on the road.

"How could they not get excited about an adventure? They were really pumped about it and could not wait to go and experience it," he said.

From snorkeling with manatees to learning to fly planes, the Jones family has experienced countless adventures on their travels.

However, Landon highlighted the family bond and connection as one of the best aspects of life on the road.

He explained that being with his family 24/7 allowed him to appreciate the work Kami had been putting in with their boys over the years.

Landon also pointed out the friendships that formed between his boys that perhaps would not have, had ages and different grades been factors as they often are for kids in regular school.

The bonds they have formed with other families and those who follow them on social media have also helped to shape their lives on the road.

A kind-hearted woman by the name of Miss Laura Liu reached out to the family while they were in Florida and showed them the hospitality and kindness they were used to in their own community.

Landon expressed his hope that his boys would be shaped by the selflessness of strangers like Laura, a woman whose husband had been battling a terminal illness at the time she met the Joneses.

And it's this kindness the family wants to continue paying forward on their next adventure, a trip around the world.

After selling their RV, the Jones' took some time to reconnect with friends and family before jetting off to Portugal, where they will stay before heading to Rwanda.

There the family will work at an orphanage for a month, spreading the kindness they received from many across the US.

And after that, well, the world is their oyster.

However, Landon explained that the family doesn't plan to "live as Nomads forever."
