Cosy coat season is finally here, and we’ve been spoilt for choice when it comes to picking the perfect jacket for winter.
From trending grey bomber jackets to ultra-warm quilted coats, there’s nothing better than nabbing yourself a coat that not only looks great, but keeps you warm too, and this season there’s a more timeless silhouette that’s on our fashion radars.
The toggle coat is a timeless design that goes with everything, and this year the classic style has been given an on-trend shearling upgrade with Totême’s Teddy Shearling Clasp Jacket, £2160 here, that’s become one of fashions most coveted jackets of the season.
Made from real shearling that’s like a warm hug in a coat, the fluffy cream jacket has become a street style must-have. However, clocking in at more than £2k, most of us probably won’t be racing out to add it to our autumn/winter wardrobes any time soon.
A tight budget doesn’t mean you have to miss out on looking impossibly cool this season, though, as George at ASDA just dropped the perfect dupe, and we need it immediately.
The Cream Borg Fleece Toggle Teddy Coat, £45 here, has all the same design details as Totême s luxury version but without the premium price tag, including a rounded scoop neckline, chunky toggle button fastenings, and a faux leather trim that resembles Toteme’s real leather edging.
The George at ASDA version even has a cosy quilted lining that helps keep the chill at bay, as well as two front pockets that are perfect for keeping your hands warm. Or, you know, storing things in.
The Cream Borg Fleece Toggle Teddy Coat, £45 here, is available in sizes XS to XXL, with the size guide suggesting it comes up large which gives it the relaxed, oversized fit that Totême’s also has.
One reviewer agreed the sizing was on the big side, writing: “This jacket has a nice black quilted lining and faux leather piping. If you cut the labels out, you could probably wear it inside out. The colour is a winter white, which is fine, rather than the bright white it looks in the picture.
“I know oversized is the fashion but this was far too big and bulky for me. I am a size 10/12 and only 5’ 1” tall and ordered small, my usual size from George. It was far too big for me, and long in the arms and wide at the wrists too. If I see it I store in an XS, I will probably try it on but I would recommend going down a size unless you like jackets oversized.”
