A newly wedded couple have received the ‘best ever’ wedding gift after Northern Lights reigned over the night sky on their big day.
Sweethearts Chris Oman and Rebecca MacDonald had just tied the knot at Bogbain Farm in Scotland, when professional photographer Michael Carver began taking pictures.
Northern lights, also known as an aurora, are natural lights bursting with brilliant and dynamic colour patterns that cover the entire sky.
It appears gifts from family and friends are likely to pale in comparison, as the wondrous lights are only known to appear on certain days throughout the year.
On the day in question, Michael was packing up his equipment when his partner texted him about the incredible sight, which could be seen right above the wedding venue.

He immediately burst into action and called upon the bride and groom to capture the special moment – but the bride was nowhere to be found.
Speaking on the spectacular moment, he explained: ‘I was photographing Rebecca and Chris’s amazing wedding at Bogbain Farm and as I packed up and left I picked up a text from my partner saying to have a look at the skies for the Northern Lights.
‘I know how quickly this can come and go so I shouted at some poor guy who was smoking outside to quickly run in and grab the bride and groom whilst I set up my camera.
‘I could see the skies flaring up and was even able to see the bright colours with my eyes.
‘We had found Chris but Rebecca was no place to be found.
‘Eventually someone dragged her from the dance floor and I had a few seconds to try and grab a shot while the Northern lights pulsed brightly’.
The bout of quick thinking paid off as Michael was able to capture a whopping three shots amidst the beautiful background – in just the nick of time.
Chris and Rebecca raced outside and got into position, leaving Michael with only a few seconds to take a photo before the lights faded.
He added: ‘Chris and Rebecca were over the moon. I’ve waited years for a moment like this and everything seemed to align. A little geeky, but for me it was a really special moment’.

The couple were thrilled with their photos, which added to the already-magical night.
Rebecca called it a ‘spectacle’, saying: ‘There had been rumours during the evening that there may be Northern lights but no sign before Michael was leaving’.
‘We’d said our goodbyes when I heard people shouting for me and saying the Northern Lights were out.
