URWERK Presents an Otherwordly UR-100V Set With 400 Diamonds

URWERK’s latest UR-100V model reimagines the reference in a shimmering new light.

Entitled Stardust, the 41mm timepiece features a steel case that’s snow-setted with 400 brilliant-cut diamonds. This is accompanied by another 24 brilliant-cut diamonds on its tonal crown, while the caseback is finished in shot-blasted titanium materiality. A Baltimore blue fabric strap is paired with the timepiece in echoing the blue accented numerals on its satellite watch face, which comes with a complementing steel pin buckle and 22 diamonds.

Like all models in the UR-100 and UR-100V collections, Stardust boasts a spatial nature with a mesmerizing wandering hour movement that as the watchmaker describes, “bears witness to the Earth’s journey across the void of space, passing millions of suns and reflecting their light.” Beating at the core of this cosmic timepiece runs the self-winding UR 12.02 movement that’s governed by a Windfänger airscrew. Armed with a power reserve of 48 hours, the caliber is also fitted with 40 jewels and boasts a frequency of 28,800vph.

Speaking on the conceptualization of the piece, Felix Baumgartner, master watchmaker and co-founder of URWERK says, “We wanted a setting reminiscent of the starry heavens, with nothing at all uniform, more like ordered chaos. It wasn’t so much the size of the stones that was important to us as their arrangement, this almost random design.”

Priced at 88,000 CHF (approximately $99,593 USD), the UR-100V Stardust is limited to a production of 10 examples per year. For those who are interested, more information can be found on URWERK’s official website.

Elsewhere in watches, Bravur dedicates a flaming red chronograph for this year’s Vuelta a España.
