Umbro’s “Make New” upcycling campaign has officially concluded, with the winner, EGOR, grabbing the first-place prize for an intricately designed full-leather fit inspired by racing silhouettes.
The “Make New” campaign is focused on sustainability and the notion of tackling textile waste. Umbro has done this by enlisting a collection of designers and giving them the task of bringing new life to old football kits, boots, and footballs.
Nouveau Nova originally launched the campaign, reworking a 21/22 EA Guingamp goalkeeper jersey into a knitted gown, followed by innovative home decor specialist, Tuesday Pickup, and upcyclers, Unwanted FC.

Throughout the entire regime, Umbro has encouraged the community to get involved by sharing their own creations, while providing opportunities to create unique projects with Umbro products. Off the back of this, four creators were shortlisted; EGOR, Slow Projects, Marqo Fletcher, and Martha Mcloughlin.
A public vote declared EGOR the winner after the designer created a leather racing jacket — constructed from football boots and balls — with a corresponding pair of trousers. Additionally, Speciali boots and lifestyle apparel were complemented with hand-stitched detailing with lace-up features on the sleeves.
Now, EGOR will officially join Umbro’s global influencer team, Diamond FC, and will receive regular product drops and upcycling challenges for 12 months.
