Despite weeks of back and forth in Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner’s divorce case, they wrapped it up quite suddenly this week. Onlookers were sure this trial would last months, maybe even years, like some celebrity divorces. However, they cleared up everything now, and fans are wondering, “How did this happen so quickly?” Well, some eagle-eyed fans realized a very important date is coming right up, and many have speculated that they wanted to clear the air beforehand.
The Let Him Go star and Baumgartner are still set to host the Kick Ash Bash created by the non-profit One805 on September 22. (And they’re hosting it at the $60 million oceanside estate they once both called home.)

In case you missed it, Costner and Baumgartner reached an amicable settlement. Costner’s representative Arnold Robinson told USA TODAY on Sept 19 that “Kevin and Christine Costner have come to an amicable and mutually agreed upon resolution of all issues pertaining to their divorce proceedings.”
This comes as a bit of a shock considering their weeks-long battle over the previously stated $60 million mansion and contention over child support payments.
Costner and Baumgartner were together for four years before marrying on Sept 25, 2004 (which adds another layer of awkwardness to this when you remember the event will take place on the month of their 19th wedding anniversary).
Baumgartner filed for divorce in May of this year, and they finalized it this week.
