Lily OftheValley replied: “It works best if you water it in. I get the plastic 750g tall tubs from Asda for 30p and pour it into any cracks in the path.
“And then use a very gentle one or two-second shower spray from the hose to wet it without making it run away from the bit I want to get rid of.
“It takes a few days to start dying off and I have gone over tough parts two or three times. Brilliant though.” Sarah Watson agreed and wrote: “Yes, salt works great.”
Salt can be bought from local supermarkets, online or from most convenience stores. Cook with M&S Table Salt costs 40p from Ocado, Tesco Table Salt costs 27p and Asda Table salt costs 65p.
Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans for removing patio weeds included using bleach, boiling water and white vinegar.
Judith Walker commented: “Bleach will also do the trick.”
Gail Burke replied: “You can also pour boiling water (from your kettle) onto the weeds… kills it instantly.”
Ruby Briggs responded to the post: “Vinegar works a treat as well!”
