The unexpected crossover between Tomb Raider and Call Of Duty could be a hint at the upcoming new game, or at least fans hope it is.
While Fortnite gets away with cameos from every movie, game, and TV show imaginable, Call Of Duty’s attempts to do the same are much less frequent and often subject to considerable fan complaint, but not this time.
Lara Croft was added to Fortnite years ago, but she’s only just now coming to Call Of Duty and the character model looks fantastic, with a great reinterpretation of her classic outfit – rather than anything from the reboot trilogy.
Activision hasn’t offered any explanation of which particular game her appearance is based on but since a new Tomb Raider game is underway some are assuming that the Call Of Duty design is inspired by it.
Although nothing has been shown of the new game, which is being co-produced by Amazon, it has been described as combining elements from both the modern and original era games.
Tomb Raider has a very loose continuity, and the implication seems to be that this will simplify things, while reintroducing elements from the older games that the more modern ones ignored.
Until the game is shown in public it’s impossible to tell what exactly they’re planning, but if this Call Of Duty operator ends up being a sign of things to come it already seems like it’s going in the right direction.
How to get Lara Croft in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2
The Lara Croft operator will be added to Call Of Duty as part of Season 5 Reloaded, the mid-season update that starts on September 9.
At that point, to unlock Lara Croft all you have to do is buy the Tracer Pack: Tomb Raider Operator Bundle. A price hasn’t been confirmed yet, but previous operator bundles have been 2,400 COD Points – which works out at around £16.80.
