Jane McDonald reveals her grief after Eddie Rothe’s death
Jane McDonald broke down into tears as she recalled looking after her late fiancé Eddie Rothe in the final days before his death.
The Loose Women star lost her partner of 13 years to lung cancer in March, 2021, when he was 67 years old.
In a devastating new interview with the Daily Mail, Jane opened up about being Eddie’s full-time carer in his final weeks.
She said: “It wasn’t slow, because we didn’t know. He had no symptoms. As daft as it sounds, I’m thankful it was during Covid because I was there with him. Nobody else was.
“But that was the hardest thing,” she continued. “I had no nurses or doctors come in. I had to learn how to do it all myself.

“I had him at home as long as I could. Then I took him to the Wakefield Hospice, which is a beautiful place.
“I’ll be forever grateful to them. I was with him all the time there,” she added tearfully.
Jane also recalled the “tragedy” of Eddie’s funeral, which took place under pandemic restrictions, meaning “nobody could come to see him”.

Jane and Eddie got together nearly three decades after losing touch when they first dated, with the famous songstress reuniting with The Searchers musician in 2008.
The pair spent over 10 years together before Eddie’s sad death, and Jade hopes she can now pay tribute to him with her new tour.
Jane will be dedicating With All My Love to Eddie in more than 20 theatres and arenas across the UK in 2024.
“This is a celebration. It’s not a mournful thing,” she said. “I haven’t had a chance to celebrate his life, so here it is.
“I had 13 amazing years with that man…I think I had the best of him. I’m glad I was privileged enough to have that time. I should be grateful for that.”
