NETFLIX'S The Crown has returned for its sixth season today and fans were left in shock by the opening scene.

Part One of The Crown season six is now live, with the show set to depict perhaps the most dramatic era in royal history.

Elizabeth Debicki returns as Princess Diana, and the opening scene features Diana's horrific car crash.

Fans took to social media with one saying: "THE CROWN IS SOOOO SICK AND TWISTED FOR HAVING THE FIRST SCENE OF THE FINAL SEASON BE THE CRASH LIKE????"

A second wrote: "The crown really opened the new season with the crash like damn."

    It has been revealed that Princess Diana stayed in France's capital city for an extra day after a row over her land mines campaign.

    Diana's ex-driver and minder Colin Tebbutt said an argument over her call for the mines to be banned convinced her to stay longer than planned.

    Princess Diana, also known as Diana Frances Spencer, died on August 31, 1997, after suffering fatal injuries in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris.

    The tunnel is located in the heart of the French capital next to the River Seine.

    Her companion Dodi Fayed and driver and security guard Henri Paul were also killed in the devastating crash.

    Diana's bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones was severely injured but survived the accident.

    An actor from Netflix's The Crown has revealed the one thing the show's cast did not love about being on set.

    Mohammed Kamel, who played Ali Al-Fayed in the Netflix series about the Royal family, admitted that the actors hated the food served during filming.

    No one but her close friends and family will ever know if the late Queen made time to watch Netflix's adaptation of her family's life.

    But actor Matt Smith has said Her Majesty did in fact watch the show.

    He told the International News: "She used to watch it on a projector on a Sunday night, apparently.

    "I know that Philip definitely didn't [watched the show].

    “A friend of mine sat next to him at a dinner once, and he asked him.
