‘Absolute game-changing’ recipe for ‘perfect’ yet ‘simple’ Yorkshire puddings

Mary Berry shares her recipe for Yorkshire Puddings

The classic Yorkshire pudding is made from just a batter of eggs, flour, and milk and cooked with vegetable oil in a hot oven until golden brown and crispy on the outside whilst perfectly soft and spongy on the inside.

The basic batter mix for Yorkshire Puddings is well-known and used by many top chefs – including Jamie Oliver and Mary Berry.

However, rather than using the oven – which uses a lot of energy – get “game-changing” results from using the air fryer.

Known on TikTok for posting delicious air fryer recipes, an influencer who goes by the name of @airfryergirluk has shared her “perfect” recipe for Yorkshire potatoes.

She captioned the video: “Roast dinner sorted! The air fryer is perfect for nice, fresh Yorkshire puddings.”

The recipe shared is enough to make six large Yorkshire puddings and it can easily be doubled to make more.

Ingredients

70g plain flour

Two eggs

100ml milk

Sunflower oil for tins

Method

1. Start adding the flour, eggs and milk to a bowl and mixing them together.

2. Once the three ingredients are combined, mix in the milk making sure to do it gradually.

3. Then place your non-stick pudding moulds in the air fryer with a small amount of oil in each of them. Put them in the air fryer for five minutes at 220 degrees as it’s essential for oil to be hot when making Yorkshire puddings.

One of the main reasons why Yorkshires don’t rise is because the oil isn’t hot enough, so make sure it’s bubbling and sizzling as you pour the batter in.

Also, make sure not to over-fill the tins. Fill each hole about a third or halfway up, any more and they may collapse through the weight of batter.

4. After the five minutes are up, add the mixture to the tins and air fry for 15 minutes at 190 degrees.

Showing her followers the end results of the Yorkshire pudding recipe, the TikToker said the outcome was “perfect”.

The Yorkshire puddings looked crispy, fluffy and golden brown, just as they should be.

Taking to the comments, User @stewartchesson said: “I done these with a roast today, an absolute game-changer. So simple and would be great with the dehydrated beef.”
