You've been lighting your candles wrong – my clever hack which works even if your wicks are burnt down | The Sun

WE all love a big candle, but it can be a bit of a pain when once it gets past a certain level and the wick is hard to reach when trying to light it up.

And the last thing you want to do is throw it away – especially if it’s one of your favourite smells, and you’ve spent a bit of money on it.

Now the days are getting dark earlier, more and more people may be experiencing this.

Especially as we are now in the cosy season.

Luckily, one candle loving fan has discovered just the trick to make sure our candles don’t go to waste.

She shared a video of her demonstrating the “candle hack” and it has since gone viral.

Mahogany Lox captioned the video: “This candle hack! Omg! I never knew about this! Try it!”

She also added: “This is how to light candles when they’re low.”

It appears to be a trick for those candles with more than one wick in it.

Mahogany first starts off by lighting one of the wicks.

She then tilts the candle so the flame points up, and points towards the second wick.

It allowed her to light the other wick without burning her hands and having difficulty with it.

Many people rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts.

One wrote: “Please trim the wick, it's dangerous if you don’t.

“Well if you don’t trim your wicks you have more chance of the flame getting out of control and catching something on fire and or the candle.”

Another wrote: “I’ve been doing this.”

Someone else stated: “Or you could just light all of them but that works too.”

To which Mahogony replied: “Obviously, but this helps when your candle is low! So you don’t burn yourself !!”

Another added: “The fact that most people are just now finding this trick out baffles me.”
