With Williams set to make his official exit on January 1, 2024, the designer has revealed his last collection for the luxury French house with the Pre-Fall 2024 season.<\/p>\n
Across menswear and womenswear, the collection continues Williams’ focus on the subversion of sartorial techniques. Yes, the clothes are imbued with a quintessentially classic cadence. But, the Illinois native looks at how the silhouettes can be updated \u2013 whether it be through mixed fabrications, inventive wash techniques or streamlined, yet subtle design details. “It\u2019s kind of the same story as always; in menswear making clothes for myself, clothes that I feel have a need to exist,” Williams told Vogue Runway<\/em>. “Exploring the themes of silhouette and materials that I\u2019ve been following since I arrived at Givenchy: garment dye, treating luxury and non-luxury material with sartorial technique.”<\/p>\n With menswear, the collection aptly places yet classic and contemporary \u2013 consistently pairing suiting or tailoring-focused ensembles with outerwear like windbreakers, coach’s jackets and casual anoraks. With it, he makes a play and versatile everyday wear that can move between the office, dinner or an evening event. Womenswear harbored a slightly more elevated persona made up of dresses, contoured suiting and a variety of streamlined skirts.<\/p>\n Although a pre-season collection, Williams’ last for the house served as a reminder of his fusion of Givenchy’s sartorial legacy with his street-leaning mentality.
