Bush was &#8216;dumb&#8217; on her part.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Today star, 41, <\/span><span>opened up about her brush with the law <\/span><span>on Friday&#8217;s show, recalling how she and her twin sister, Barbara Pierce Bush, were caught trying to buy alcohol their freshman year of college, just months after their dad was sworn into office.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I didn&#8217;t actually go to jail. I mean, my dad was the president.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jenna, who was 19 at the time, was a student at The University of Texas at Austin when she made international headlines for the infraction.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her sister, Barbara,\u00a0was visiting from Yale University when they were caught trying to purchase alcohol at Chuy&#8217;s, a\u00a0<span>Mexican chain restaurant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>A manager notified authorities that a group of individuals who did not look 21 were ordering alcoholic beverages.<\/p>\n<p>Barbara had already been served by the time police arrived and was charged with underage possession, while Jenna was rejected for using an ID that belonged to someone else who was of legal drinking age.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jenna told Hoda that a girl in her sorority had given her the ID to use.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Her name was Allison, it was a real ID,&#8217; she said. &#8216;But they took that thing away from me and [clipped] it up.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jenna wrote about the right of passage in her 2017 memoir, Sisters First, which she co-wrote with her sisters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/11\/13\/19\/77753765-12744405-image-m-5_1699904975556.jpg\" height=\"916\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jenna claimed the waitress who called the cops on her &#8216;didn&#8217;t like&#8217; her father, then-President George W. Of course, the reason why you might want an ID before you were 21 was to drink alcohol,&#8217; she explained.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;When you&#8217;re a college student, you are more preoccupied with who&#8217;s having a party or who&#8217;s playing beer pong than if your fake ID will land you in the tabloids.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I never stopped to consider, &#8220;Oh, wait a minute, now that my dad is president, people are going to recognize me.&#8221;&#8216;<\/p>\n<p>Jenna&#8217;s conversation with Hoda about her underage drinking citation came just one day after she accused her Today producers of trying to &#8216;shame&#8217;
