Jonnie Irwin has congratulated the Escape To The Country team after his return pulled in a massive audience.<\/p>\n
The 49-year-old property expert has been away from TV for a while after his terminal cancer diagnosis,\u00a0with a tumour in his lung spreading to his brain, but viewers were delighted to see him back on screen earlier this week.<\/p>\n
Filmed last autumn, in the episode Jonnie met retired couple Janet and Brian from Reading and helped them to find their dream home in Somerset.<\/p>\n
He sought out some very lavish properties for the pair, some in the region of \u00a3600,000 and boasting five bedrooms.<\/p>\n
It has since emerged that one million people tuned in for the episode, which won in its time slot, and Jonnie admitted it was \u2018a lot of fun\u2019 working on the programme.<\/p>\n
Sharing a shot of himself with the crew on location, he wrote on Instagram: \u2018Just been told about the overnight viewing figures from our show on Monday; 22% audience share, 1 million viewers and slot winner!<\/p>\n

His post was flooded with well wishes and kind words from his fans, who all agreed it was \u2018lovely\u2019 to see him back on screen.<\/p>\n

Jonnie\u2019s TV return comes after he vented his \u2018frustrations\u2019 after discovering his cancer is \u2018on the move\u2019.<\/p>\n
The dad-of-three admitted he\u00a0\u2018hasn\u2019t been feeling great\u2019\u00a0over recent weeks, telling his followers\u00a0he\u2019s been \u2018pretty unwell\u2019.<\/p>\n
However, this hasn\u2019t prevented him from celebrating big milestones\u00a0with his kids,\u00a0having enjoyed\u00a0a summer staycation\u00a0with Rex, four, and twins Rafa and Cormac, two.<\/p>\n
Upon returning home, there were more emotional moments in store, as Rex started primary school, and doting dad Jonnie shared the cutest snap of Rex in his uniform, writing in the caption that he is \u2018so proud of him I could burst.\u2019<\/p>\n
