Kate Middleton proved her down-to-earth nature as she donned a pair of jeans and white trainers to watch Prince George play football over the weekend.<\/p>\n
In a snap which was shared on social media, the Princess of Wales, 41, beamed with joy as she sheltered from the rain while watching her eldest son play in a match alongside her husband Prince William, 41.<\/p>\n
The royal mother-of-three was dressed down for the occasion, opting for a smart Barbour coat with a pair of blue flared jeans and a white On x Roger Federer running trainers.<\/p>\n
She swept her hair back from her face, opting for a causal makeup look for the outing, and wrapped a black scarf around her neck to stay warm.<\/p>\n
George’s love of football has been no secret, with the royal celebrating birthdays with a sports-themed parties at Kensington Palace and William saying he hopes his oldest son will one day be Villa’s ‘top goal scorer’.<\/p>\n

It emerged in July 2020 that ‘football crazy’ <\/span>Prince George\u00a0‘plays for a local team’ during term time.<\/span><\/p>\n S<\/span>ources at the time told\u00a0Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl: ‘I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if his birthday has a football theme.\u00a0George is football crazy and actually a very good player.\u00a0<\/p>\n They added: ‘During term time he plays for a local team and Will and Kate are often there to cheer him on.’<\/p>\n Prince George, an avid Aston Villa fan, has been spotted at a number of the club’s games over the years with his father.\u00a0<\/p>\n The youngster has previously posed for his official birthday photographs in an England shirt, and was pictured chasing after a ball with his younger sister Princess Charlotte at a polo match in 2019.<\/p>\n In October 2019, when he was six, George was pictured enthusiastically celebrating a 5-1 Villa win with William, his mother Kate and sister Charlotte.<\/p>\n Meanwhile he also watched the club beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 in a match in April.<\/p>\n The prince’s love for the beautiful game was evident when he attended the June 2021 final of the Euros at Wembley, where England faced Italy.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n George’s love of football has been no secret, with the royal celebrating birthdays with a sports-themed parties at Kensington Palace\u00a0<\/p>\n After joining his parents for the national anthem, George threw his arms out and shouted in pure joy as Luke Shaw powered England to an early lead over Italy in the opening minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n But the young royal later had to be consoled when his team lost to the Azzurri on penalties, after being outplayed by Roberto Mancini’s men throughout the second half.\u00a0<\/p>\n The appearance from Kate at the football match comes amidst a busy period for the Princess, who has returned to royal engagements after the summer break.<\/p>\n Last week, Kate visited the Streets of Growth charity, where she met with mothers and daughters who have been helped by the service, to look at some of the shoes and jewellery they have made in creative workshops.<\/p>\n And earlier this month, a source close to Kate and William claimed the pair are\u00a0‘laser-focused’ and ‘know what they want from royal life’.<\/p>\n As they mark the first year of being the Prince and Princess of Wales, the couple have discovered what they want from the role and set a clear path to be the future of the monarchy, those around them say.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Sources previously revealed how the little royal ‘plays for a local team’ during term time and said that Prince William and Kate often cheer him on from the sidelines (pictured,\u00a0 in 2019)<\/p>\n The royal couple have made sure their presence is seen in Wales and are supporting the King in his duties, while William is keen to ‘continue the great work that his father did’ with the Duchy of Cornwall.<\/p>\n Speaking to the Telegraph, a source said the pair ‘know what they want’ when it comes to their working lives, adding that they are ‘editing their own speeches and peppering aides with questions about every brief’.<\/p>\n William and Kate, alongside their children Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old\u00a0Prince Louis are setting out to be ‘the future of the monarchy’ the source added.<\/p>\n ‘There’s a lot for him to get his head around, and although he and his father worked closely together, there will have been a lot of “listening and discussing” his future path,’ the source said.<\/p>\n ‘He has this unwavering commitment to duty and service. He takes the role extremely seriously and is incredibly focused on working hard but also supporting his father as King,’ they added.<\/p>\n
