Jonnie Irwin was in high spirits as he made a rare appearance at a public event this weekend.<\/p>\n
The TV presenter, 49, joined his co-stars for A Place in the Sun Live in Birmingham on Saturday (September 23), an interactive event of exhibitions, Q&As, seminars, and panel talks across several days.<\/p>\n
Jonnie has been taking life at a slower pace over recent months following his terminal cancer diagnosis, which he revealed publicly last November.<\/p>\n
The dad-of-three doesn\u2019t know how long he has left to live, although doctors previously didn\u2019t expect him to make it to 2023.<\/p>\n
In his most recent health update, Jonnie shared his \u2018frustration\u2019 as he admitted his cancer is \u2018on the move.\u2019<\/p>\n
Jonnie \u2013 whose young children remain unaware of his illness \u2013 has taken every opportunity to make memories with his loved ones, with his outing this weekend bringing joy to fans following his journey.<\/p>\n

Taking to Instagram, fellow presenter Jasmine Harman shared a snap with Jonnie at the venue, smiling next to him wearing a purple dress while Jonnie went smart-casual in a shirt, jacket, and flat cap.<\/p>\n
\u2018Teaming up with the one and only @jonnieirwintv at A Place in the Live in Birmingham today\u2019, she wrote. \u2018Hope to see you there!\u2019<\/p>\n
A Place in the Sun\u2019s official page kept viewers updated throughout the afternoon with videos of Jonnie delighting attendees on panels.<\/p>\n
\u2018How wonderful to see you!\u2019, the host told Jonnie as they chatted on sofas in front of a crowd.<\/p>\n

\u2018Lovely to be here!\u2019, Jonnie said excitedly. <\/p>\n
\u2018Really nice to be here, back in Brum!\u2019, he added with a Birmingham accent.<\/p>\n
Jonnie then noted that the event wasn\u2019t far from where he grew up, having been born in Bitteswell.<\/p>\n
Further videos captured the huge crowd of people who had gathered to see Jonnie, with the room absolutely packed and full of smiling faces.<\/p>\n
Ahead of his appearance at the live event, Jonnie wrote on Instagram last night: \u2018Just pulling into Brum and excited to be joining this beaut of a human tomorrow at the NEC.\u2019<\/p>\n

Taking to the comments, his followers were buzzing to see him in action with his co-star.<\/p>\n

\u2018Enjoy Jonnie! The A team are back!! \ud83d\udc4f\u2764\ufe0f\u2019, another said.<\/p>\n
Jonnie \u2013 who said he\u2019s felt \u2018weaker\u2019 in recent weeks \u2013 previously spoke about feeling \u2018pushed aside\u2019 once the A Place in the Sun team learned of his cancer.<\/p>\n
Jonnie said he was impressed by the support from Escape to the Country, but A Place in the Sun was a different story.<\/p>\n
\u2018But I didn\u2019t get that support from A Place In The Sun,\u2019 he said. \u2018I told them I wanted to work. When I said I can get you doctor notes and assurances from my oncologist that I am fit to work, I was told, verbatim, \u201cOh, you really don\u2019t want to go down that route, do you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018They said, \u201cWe don\u2019t think we can get the insurance\u201d, not, \u201cWe can\u2019t get the insurance\u201d, but, \u201cWe don\u2019t think\u2026\u201d That broke my heart and affected my\u00a0mental health.\u2019<\/p>\n
He claimed that the show paid him for the rest of the season but didn\u2019t renew his contract.<\/p>\n
Jonnie added to The Sun: \u2018Within two weeks, someone else was on TV doing my job. <\/p>\n
\u2018I just feel I earned a bit more from them after 18 years.\u2019<\/p>\n
He claimed he\u2019s been \u2018pushed to the side in favour of someone healthier\u2019 and added: \u2018That broke my heart\u2019.<\/p>\n

Channel 4 and Freeform later responded with the following statement: \u2018No stone was left unturned in trying to enable Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during\u00a0Covid\u00a0but the production company were unable to secure adequate insurance cover for him.<\/p>\n
\u2018We, of course, understand how frustrating this must be for him at this incredibly difficult time.\u2019<\/p>\n
