Amy Dowden has shared a heartbreaking video of having her head shaved, as she continues her ongoing treatment for cancer.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0Strictly Come Dancing\u00a0pro, 33, revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with stage 3\u00a0breast cancer.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s since undergone a single mastectomy and is now having chemotherapy after\u00a0doctors sadly found more tumours,\u00a0which has also forced her out of Strictly 2023, though she\u2019s teased appearances on the series while\u00a0the team have assured the door remains open for her.<\/p>\n
As she undergoes her treatment, Amy has been sharing updates with her fans about her trips to hospital and\u00a0her devastating hairloss.<\/p>\n
She had previously shared that she wasn\u2019t ready to shave her head, but spoke about how \u2018distraught\u2019 she was about it.<\/p>\n
However, she\u2019s now bravely shared a clip of the huge step, as she\u2019s surrounded by her loved ones and has her hair shaved off.<\/p>\n

She wrote in the caption: \u2018\u201cThis too shall pass\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2018Taking control- The hardest step so far. I tried my best to save it. I know it\u2019s only hair but these past few months I\u2019ve had what feels like so much taken away from me that has made me not feel like Amy.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019m missing every possible aspect of dancing. I just wanted to keep my identity with my hair and I tried telling myself it wouldn\u2019t go. But I would dread the pain of waking up to the shredding everyday.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019ve not been able to take control of this journey so far, but as you can see with some of my loved ones I took the courage and CONTROL.<\/p>\n
\u2018It\u2019s going to take some time to get use to and learn to love and embrace but, I\u2019m now focussing-not on the hair I\u2019m losing but the hair I\u2019m going to get back and the happy dancing, tea lover who talks way to fast whilst rolling every rrrrr who is still there inside with or without hair!\u2019<\/p>\n

Amy added that she can \u2018now see the finish line\u2019, after marking a milestone through her chemotherapy.<\/p>\n
She went on: \u2018Since taking control, I feel I can now see the finish line. This for me was a hurdle I couldn\u2019t even bring myself to think or speak about.<\/p>\n
\u2018I\u2019ve done it and I\u2019ve also crossed the half way chemo line! I\u2019m feeling empowered and positive!<\/p>\n
\u2018To everyone on their own journey, whatever that maybe, I\u2019m sending love, power, strength and courage.<\/p>\n

\u2018I found my courage for this step and I\u2019m proud (There are some fun before and after vids\/reels coming, but I wanted to share the truth and hopefully help others, and bring normality to a beautiful bald head).\u2019<\/p>\n
Amy was inundated in support, with one person writing: \u2018So strong and inspiring Amy! We love you.\u2019<\/p>\n

This comes after Amy\u00a0spoke about how she\u2019s feeling \u2018distraught\u2019\u00a0over her hair loss, shortly after she\u00a0attended the National Television Awards.<\/p>\n

In a recent series of clips posted on Instagram, Amy said that her third round of chemo had been the \u2018best one so far\u2019, as she had to be rushed to hospital after her first round before it was discovered that she had developed sepsis.<\/p>\n
After the second round, Amy suffered from three blood clots, but after the most recent third round, she explained that she \u2018just had the usual side effects from chemo\u2019, which included sickness, fatigue, sore mouth ulcers and hair loss.<\/p>\n
She previously said: \u2018I can\u2019t now leave the house without something on the top of my head because unfortunately, [I\u2019m] quite bald on top.\u2019<\/p>\n
Amy revealed that she had received \u2018so many messages\u2019 asking how she\u2019s coping with her hair loss, as she acknowledged that it\u2019s been \u2018really, really hard\u2019 for her.<\/p>\n

She also opened up about how she has cried on multiple occasions about losing her hair, including having what she described as \u2018meltdowns\u2019 when she would wash her hair once a week.<\/p>\n
However, one thing that has helped Amy is having her husband Ben Jones brush her hair for her, so that she doesn\u2019t have to physically see the hair that\u2019s coming out, even though she is still aware of it.<\/p>\n
\u2018That for me is helping me big time because if I took my scarf off, you\u2019ll see there\u2019s hardly any left but it\u2019s okay,\u2019 she said, before referencing a video of Tom Hanks speaking during an actors\u2019 roundtable as she continued: \u2018Because I keep telling myself like Tom Hanks says this too shall pass.\u2019<\/p>\n
Amy went on to explain that since leaving hospital after suffering from blood clots, she\u2019s stopped brushing her hair herself \u2018because I was just getting distraught when I\u2019d see how much was falling out\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u2018That has helped me. But this is definitely the hardest part for me personally,\u2019 she stated.<\/p>\n
