Stone Island is heading to South Korea this fall with an immersive show experience for its audiences. <\/p>\n
Running in early September for about a week, the premium Italian outerwear brand is staging an archival exhibition. The event coincides with the the second edition of Frieze Seoul and Seoul Fashion Week. Titled, Selected Works_Seoul ‘982-’023: The Stone Island Archive<\/em>, the presentation is slated to be the largest installation the brand has ever staged in Asia. The show will exhibit four decades of Stone Island’s heritage, spotlighting the brand’s craftsmanship over the years and its textile innovation. <\/p>\n In a statement, Stone Island’s chairman Carlo Rivetti stated, “Stone Island is my whole life and my passion. When I enter our historical archive, it is a great emotion for me, because I see my whole life in the garments that Stone Island has created in 41 years of its history.” He added Our customers are not consumers, they are enthusiasts, they are fans, they are friends, and they recognize the uniqueness of this brand. Every time I meet someone who wears Stone Island, I really feel proud. I feel proud of what my people have done in Ravarino, of what we have managed to build in these years.” Rivetti has been with the brand for many decades, having joined in 1983. He joined a year after Massimo Osti founded the company in Ravarino, buying 50% of the company. A decade later, Rivetti and his sister Cristina bought the remaining 50%. <\/p>\n The exhibition is slated to be a landmark presentation of the Stone Island brand. Robert Triefus, the brand’s CEO said, “This will be a landmark exhibition as it is the largest ever showing of the Stone Island Archive in Asia in one of our most important global markets, where we have been present since 1996.” He continued regarding the choice of showing in Korea, “Over the years we have established a significant community of highly knowledgeable collectors and enthusiasts in Korea, who particularly appreciate the material innovation that the brand is recognized for.”<\/p>\n The exhibition in the main hall is set to feature a cathedral-like display of 45 archival pieces with key items that include the Tela Stella from Spring\/Summer 1982 — a ape from the first ever Stone Island collection, born from the study of the technical and functional characteristics of military truck tarpaulins; as well as the glazed silk light, Fall\/Winter 1987 which is a jacket with glaze and color as if glass and the Ventile Ghost Piece from Spring\/Summer 2011,a totally monochromatic jacket from the debut Ghost collection. On the mezzanine floor will be a display of fourteen Reflective Jackets and a itrine featuring 3D miniature printed mannequins, which were created to celebrate Stone Island\u2019s 40th anniversary in 2022. The Pure Metal Shell jackets will get its own celebrated spot and closing the exhibition will be seven rare pieces from the Prototype Research_Series, complete with films that document the innovations within each garment.<\/p>\n The event will be staged at Layer 41 Studio in Seoul and opens to the public from September 5 to September 9 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.<\/p>\n Layer 41 Studio<\/strong>
