IF you're already looking for some winter sun, then there's a great spot just a few hours from the UK.

While most Brit holidaymakers heading to Egypt visit Sharm El-Sheikh or Hurghada, there's also another spot with warm winter weather and cheap breaks.

Set on Egypt’s Red Sea, the resort town of El Gouna lies just 12 miles away from Hurghada, and is quickly becoming a popular spot among Brit tourists.

The resort town is just a 30-minute drive from Hurghada Airport, and flights are less than six hours from the UK.

Wizz Air and easyJet operate direct flights from the UK to Hurghada Airport.

Temperatures in El Gouna can even reach 24C in the winter – making it an ideal spot for holidaymakers.

It is a relatively new destination, having been developed in 1989 by Egyptian billionaire Onsi Sawiris, with the resorts scattered across 20 man-made islands.

Now seen as an affordable luxury resort, there are a number of sandy beaches including Zeytuna Beach and Moods Beach.

And there are more than just beaches in the resort town too, it's also home to over 100 bars and restaurants.

El Gouna also has 18 hotels including the likes of The Chedi, El Gouna, Cook’s Club, Casa Cook, and the Steigenberger Golf Resort – many of which are four stars or higher.

</picture>

</picture>

</picture>

</picture>

Outside of the hotel pools and beaches, there are plenty of other attractions for holidaymakers too including

In addition to the five-star hotels, the resort town has plenty of other attractions for holidaymakers including the region's longest cable park – Cable Park Sliders.

Other attractions include a sunset desert hike, scuba diving, and quad biking in the desert.

And holidays to El Gouna won't break the bank either, with holidays starting from £154 per person.

November stays at the Captain's Inn, a three-star hotel in El Gouna, start from £44 per night based on two adults sharing a room.

This means that two holidaymakers could book a seven-night stay in the Egyptian resort for £154 per person.

El Gouna is two hours ahead of the UK.

While Arabic is the official language of Egypt, English is widely spoken at resorts.

The local currency is the Egyptian pound (EGP) with £10 around 367 EGP.

You don't need to be vaccinated to visit El Gouna, but your passport will need to have at least 6 months left on it when you arrive.

You will need a visa to visit El Gouna, which you can get on arrival and costs around £10.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of other holiday hotspots around Europe that are away from the tourist crowds.

One of those is Agadir, the largest seaside resort in in Morocco, with the city being completely rebuilt in the 1960s following a devastating earthquake.

Meanwhile, these are the top 25 holiday destinations Brits want to visit this summer.

And, this unknown holiday spot is just three hours from the UK.
