NEW YEAR parties are likely to be subdued this year, with the majority of the UK in tier 2 or tier 3.
Only tier 1 residents can mingle inside, which only allows people living in Cornwall, Isle of Wight and the Isles of Scilly to take advantage of this.
The rest of the UK can only meet outside, when with someone outside of their household.
If in tier 2, you can meet up to six people in a private outdoor space, while tier 3 has to be in public.
However, families or housemates can still celebrate 2021 within their household – and there are some amazing options for staycation this year.
We've rounded up the best places to book with your household for New Years Eve which still have dates available.
- One-night hotel breaks with Booking.com – from £49 per night
- Three-night holiday cottages with Snaptrip – from £98pp, per night
- Three-night breaks with Sykes Cottages – from £116pp, per night

The government is allowing households to mix between December 23 and December 27 this year, to let families meet up for Christmas.
This means you cannot mingle during New Year celebrations.
Many events have already been cancelled, including firework shows and pub meet-ups banned.
The government's Guidance for Christmas says: "You must follow the rules on where you can go and who you can meet, including on New Year’s Eve.
"Your Christmas bubble will no longer apply."
Here is how to celebrate the New Year this year without breaking the rules.
