But in the winter, there’s one destination that seems to tick all the boxes for an A-list getaway, never failing to draw in the elite; Aspen, Colorado.
This exclusive resort has hosted celebrity guests including Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Gigi Hadid , Elle Macpherson, Elton John , Rita Ora and Jack Nicholson to name a few.
We imagine the snow-capped mountains, opulent hotels and seriously chic après-ski spots are just some of the reasons the celebrities keep coming back – but what is Aspen really like?

The hotels where the stars stay
The Little Nell Hotel
For stars after total privacy and a glamorous stay unlike any other, the Little Nell Hotel tends to be top of the list.
From the guest rooms to signature suites all of the accommodation offers unrivalled views of the town and mountain, while also boasting plenty of features from their own fireplaces to marble bathrooms and giant comfortable beds.
Then of course there are plenty of A-list worthy amenities, from the spa with a wide array of treatments, to a host of restaurants and bars offering up fine dining.
Not to mention it’s a ski in, ski out hotel – so you don’t even have to travel to reach the slopes!
The epitome of elegance and glamour, Hotel Jerome has previously hosted famous faces including Jack Nicholson, Cameron Diaz and Bill Murray.
The hotel is renowned for its traditional alpine charm, with après-ski features from a roaring fireplace to a host of classic board games on offer for guests.
Rooms are elegant and spacious with views of the mountain, while celebrity guests looking to unwind after a busy day on the slopes can escape to the pool and spa.
The Viceroy Snowmass Hotel
Elton John has been enjoying a Christmas break in the Snowmass Village with husband David Furnish and the couple’s children, making the most of the quieter season before skiers descend on the slopes.
However, the Viceroy still offers a haven amidst all of the hustle and bustle, and not just because of its famously beautiful spa.
The Viceroy Snowmass rooms are more like homes-away-from-home, all offering living rooms and kitchen features for those who feel like a cosy night in after all of the excitement.
However, we reckon that it’s the penthouses which the A-list are more likely to book out; these have their own full kitchens, sauna-esque bathrooms, and huge bedrooms with fireplaces and endless closets for storing all of that stylish ski gear.
The St Regis Hotel
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were spotted at this prestigious hotspot when they took the slopes in 2013 with daughter North, while other famous guests include Paris Hilton and Uma Thurman.
Guests are pampered and looked after from the moment they step in through the doors – there’s even a butler service who can pack and unpack for you if you can’t wait to go exploring.
The 4-star hotel has 179 rooms, including 25 suites, all of which offer stunning views of the picturesque surroundings, as well as boasting amenities from extremely comfortable beds to luxury toilettries. As for interiors, think custom furnishings designed by Ralph Lauren.
The skiing conditions in Aspen
It’s not just the opulent hotels that keep the stars coming back to Aspen – the Colorado resort is renowned for its brilliant skiing conditions.
The season is at its best between December through to February when there tends to be plenty of snow to keep the runs as pristine as ever.
There are around 337 runs for skiers to choose from, catering to a wide range of levels from beginner to experienced.
In fact, plenty of celebrities bring their children along to the resort, which also boasts great ski schools and easier runs for little ones to try.
And for those who are getting tired of the slopes, Aspen doesn’t disappoint.
For a start it offers plenty of other winter sports such as dog sledding and snow mobiling – which Bella and Gigi Hadid tried their hand at when they enjoyed a family getaway on the slopes last year.
The best restaurants and après-ski hotspots
In the daytime, there’s one place that offers particularly spectacular views and a party atmosphere: Cloud Nine Alpine Bistro. There’s champagne, dancing and plenty of food and drink – but without a reservation, you’re unlikely to get in.
Meanwhile, the Base Camp Bar Grill has more budget-friendly offerings, not to mention it’s much more kid-friendly, and is therefore a hit with those after a laidback dining ambiance.
For après-ski with a touch of celebrity spotting, head to the Little Nell hotel’s bars – even if you don’t see a famous face, they’re well worth a visit.
There’s Chair 9 which opens just as the chair lifts are closing, where you’ll find plenty of live music and TV screens showing the biggest football matches should there be a big game day.
For those after something a bit more laidback there’s the Living Room which is ideal for warming up thanks to its two-sided fireplace.

Fashionistas could while away entire days in Aspen’s luxurious boutiques, where you’ll find everything from beautiful après-ski ensembles to seriously stylish ski gear.
No wonder stars such as Elle Macpherson or Kate Hudson and mum Goldie Hawn have been spotted hitting the shops during their wintry breaks.
The main street and mall are pedestrianised making them ideal for shoppers after a leisurely stroll away from the slopes.
How to get there
No doubt one reason Colorado is so popular with Hollywood is because of its US location, meaning for many it’s just a short flight away.
But if you’re feeling tempted to try Aspen for yourself, you don’t necessarily need to break the bank to get there. Cheapflights.co.uk has return flights from £420 , while Expedia can also be a good source for cheap flights.
