De Vere Wokefield Estate is classic with fabulous modern touches and Bombay Sapphire Distillery tickets areincluded – The Sun

WHAT’S IT LIKE? A grand estate dating back to the 1560s and made up of Wokefield Place, Wellington Lodge and the Mansion House.

Amenities include an 18-hole golf course, indoor pool, hot tub and gym.

It is newly refurbished and the decor is classic, but with modern touches.

ROOMS ANY GOOD? They are fabulous. Ours came with a roll-top bath and huge windows overlooking the grounds.

Think stylish chintz curtains, tartan foot stools and retro-chic touches such as old-school radios and playful Victorian-style framed art.

EAT THERE OR GRAB A PIZZA? Eat here and try the fantastic pan-fried hake at the new 1560 Restaurant & Bar in the Mansion House before unwinding with a nightcap at the cosy Whisky Lounge.

WHAT ELSE? The brilliant Bombay Sapphire Distillery at Laverstoke Mill is a 40-minute drive away.

Discover the art of distilling mother’s ruin and learn the history of Bombay Sapphire and the old paper mill, where the gin is made.

SO YOU’D GO BACK? Yep. Especially for the plush rooms.

WHAT’S THE DAMAGE? One night’s B&B is from £77 per person, based on two sharing. The price includes a three-course dinner and two tickets to the Bombay Sapphire Distillery.
