If that doesn't work, then they recommend booking a refundable reservation and looking around for a better deal.

The hotel can then either offer to match it or give a full refund to go elsewhere.

Guests could also find themselves with a better view if they choose to book with the hotel instead of through third party websites.

A former hotel manager said hotels save the rooms with the best view for the direct bookers as they don't like paying the commission with the third party.
