On Thursday, Chanel debuted its Métiers d’Art collection on the runway at Château de Chenonceau in France’s Loire Valley, with but a single spectator in attendance: “Twilight” star Kristen Stewart.
Per WWD, Chanel had originally planned to invite 200 guests to the show, but a second French lockdown made that impossible.
So the fashion house whittled it down to an audience of one, with the 30-year-old actress (and, notably, longtime Chanel ambassador) as the guest of honor.
As for the clothes? The collection was mostly monochromatic, with sequin skirts and tweed dresses that mirrored the regal venue’s checkerboard floor. There were also floor-sweeping velvet coats, bouffant sleeves and even a leather jacket quilted with pearls.
Stewart, who will appear in ads for the collection, told WWD she prepped for the presentation by binge-watching old episodes of “Reign,” the CW soap loosely based on the life of Mary, Queen of Scots.
