Wetherspoons to slash menu prices throughout January as they remain open

JD Wetherspoon chains across the UK are preparing for a huge January sale, as many branches remain open.

Food and soft drink prices will be slashed as part of their new 'extra value January sale' menu, which will apply to its 125 branches across England from January 1.

Currently, pubs in England which are operating under the Government's Tier 1 or Tier 2 restrictions are allowed to open, meaning that punters in those parts of the country can make the most of this offer.

Are you lucky enough to be in a tier where pubs are still open, or have you been trapped indoors in a Tier 3 or Tier 4 area? Let us know in the comments!

However, those in Tier 3 and Tier 4 have seen pubs, restaurants, cafes and more forced shut for dining-in in areas across the country, causing chaos for the hospitality industry.

The strictest tier was introduced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson on December 20, with the first formal review set to take place on December 30.

Those in Tier 4 currently include most of the south-west of England.

Currently all Wetherspoons pubs in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales remain closed.

The slashed prices will be around 10% lower, but this may vary slightly depending on where you live.

Wetherspoons will be offering breakfasts, burgers, pizzas, paninis, wraps, and around 21 small dishes and desserts on the bargain menu.

It's looking like a pizza or a burger with a soft drink will only set you back £3.99 – or you can snap up an entire breakfast for £2.99.

Wetherspoons operations director Martin Geoghegan, said: "Department stores and shops hold their sales in January, so it is the perfect time to have a sale in the pub too.

"The range of meals and drinks is aimed at suiting a wide variety of tastes.

"Customers will be able to enjoy great food and drink at value for money prices in a safe and welcoming environment."
