We called the police on our son as we couldn't handle his angry outbursts | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: WE’VE called the police on our son and my worst fear has become a reality.

He’s 23 and autistic. He holds down a job but has frequent outbursts at home.

I had to stand between my husband and our lad – who is 6ft tall – because we wouldn’t let him borrow our car. He trashed the living room.

We called the police and they could see we couldn’t cope.

So they then put him in the cells for his own safety and for ours.

It is terrifying when he gets in a rage.

DEIDRE SAYS: I am sure it is, but you cannot go on living in fear of your own son.

When he’s calm, explain that while he lives with you, he has to adhere to your boundaries.

There will be times when he won’t get his own way and he has to learn to deal with that.
