Tess Daly and Vernon Kay have been married since 2003. The couple started dating in 2001 when Vernon was hosting T4 and got down on one knee to propose to Tess on Christmas Day at Tess’ family home in Stockport. They married two years later in Horwich, a small town near Vernon’s home town of Bolton.
Becoming TV’s Golden Couple, they then presented singing competition Just The Two Of Us on BBC for one year between 2006 and 2007.
How much did her engagement ring cost?
Deborah Papas, Gemologist at Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4’s Posh Pawn said: “Tess Daly’s engagement ring is a beautiful single emerald-cut diamond set in a very simple setting of platinum to show off its elegance.”
The huge engagement ring, chosen by Vernon comes at a hefty price too.
Papas continued: “It is believed to be between three and four carats, and of exceptional quality.”
Diamonds with a higher carat weight are more rare and more expensive.
The average engagement ring weight is 0.6 carats and so Tess’ is triple the UK average.
Papas evaluated the ring which according to the gemologist comes with a huge price tag.

She said: “I estimate the value to be in the region of £250,000.”
It is no wonder Kay spent such a huge amount on the piece of jewellery considering his net worth is estimated to be into the millions.
He is known for shows such as All Star Family Fortunes and Beat the Star and is said to make £1million a year from his presenting deals.
Tess also has a huge net worth of around £3million with a staggering £350k salary for her Strictly work alone.
However another expert had a different view on how much the Strictly Come Dancing host’s engagement ring cost.
CEO of iSparkle, a diamond house specialising in rare and coloured diamonds, Ilan Kaplan said: “The diamond on Tess Daly’s engagement ring is an emerald cut diamond of approximately 2 carats, with an approximate value of £30,000 to £35,000. It looks like it is a super white, top clarity diamond.
“The emerald cut is the most elegant of all diamond cuts. Emerald cut diamonds are faceted as a step cut around the edge of the diamond which creates a mirror effect with flashes of light and brilliance.”
The average price in the UK for a two carat emerald cut ring can range anywhere between £5k to £60k depending on the quality and clarity of the ring.
The pair tied the knot at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Horwich, near Bolton and even allowed the public and media to watch
Tess opted for a strapless A-line wedding dress by Marina Adanou which looked expensive being embellished with crystals and sequins.
Vernon also donned a white tailor made suit by Alexandre Savile Row which he paired with a pink shirt and patterned tie.
The couple who have now been married for 17 years, have two daughters, Phoebe, 15 and Amber, 11.
They live in their Buckinghamshire mansion which comes with its very own private swimming pool and large garden where her adorable Shetland ponies live.
