Gumption is a great alternative to harsh chemicals or bleaches

To make the shower look sparkling new, Tammy applied the products onto the glass and scrubbed for a few minutes.

She then rinsed the screen with warm water, squeegeed the excess away and wiped the surface dry with a microfiber cloth.

Gumption has been made in Australia for over 60 years and is a great alternative to harsh chemicals or bleaches.

The abrasive cleanser worked incredibly well at removing the soap scum from the glass, while the multi-purpose liquid products would’ve killed all bacteria and mould lurking in the shower.

The shower screen was left looking spotless and in a pristine condition for the next renter to use.

Other Facebook users were impressed with the ‘amazing’ transformation and said the end result looked ‘fabulous’.

Many also revealed the go-to cleaning products they use, including Bar Keepers Friend, Windex and vinegar mixed with dishwashing liquid.

How to clean a shower screen using common household products:

Water and dishwashing detergent – put some dishwashing liquid on a coarse cloth or brush and scrub the shower screen using some water. Rinse with cool water

Baking soda and vinegar – scrub the shower screen using baking soda, but don’t rinse. Spray vinegar over the baking soda and then rinse with warm water

Vinegar and paper towels – soak paper towels in vinegar and place them on your dried shower screens. Cover the entire area with paper towels, and add an extra layer. Leave on for a minimum of 45 minutes, but up to a few hours for tough limescale. Remove the paper towels and rinse your screen

Hydrogen peroxide and bicarb – make a paste out of these two products and apply it to stubborn build-ups on your shower screen using a soft plastic dish scrubber
