Our son is 23. This other worker is waging a campaign of hate against him, involving other workers too.
He has insulted my son, threatened him and tries to discredit him all the time.
We worry for his safety outside work now. This guy has made threats about knowing where our son lives – a studio flat on his own. We live at the other end of the country, so it is difficult for us to help.
Our boy has never been in trouble with the law and is a gentle, inoffensive soul. We are worried sick but have not reported it to the police in case it causes our son more trouble.
DEIDRE SAYS: It’s good your son is confiding in you but no wonder you are worried. Management at his work should step in to protect him.
If your son is being threatened or suffering homophobic abuse, it is against the law and the police should be told.
Suggest your son starts by talking to Acas, which can provide advice to anyone being bullied in the workplace (acas.org.uk, 0300 123 1100).
They have a free, confidential helpline.
