Netflix's 'The Princess Switch' Is Getting A Sequel

Following in the footsteps of the Hallmark Channel — Netflix began getting into the holiday movie game a few years ago. It all began with the craze around A Christmas Prince and continued with its sequel, A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding. We all know that people adored hate-watching the movie about an American journalist who falls in love with the Crowned Prince of Aldovia. It’s basically Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s story with a little bit of a twist. However, there was one Netflix holiday film from 2018 that was both sweet and generally enjoyable.

In 2018, High School Musical alum, Vanessa Hudgens did double duty in The Princess Switch. The adorable flick followed Chicago baker Stacy DeNovo (Hudgens) who wins a spot in a prestigious baking competition in the Kingdom of Belgravia. Pushed by her best friend Kevin, Stacey heads to Belgravia where she meets her doubleganger — Margaret Delacourt, Duchess of Montenaro (also Hudgens.)

What ensues is essentially a grown-up version of The Parent Trap with a bit of romance novel flair.

‘The Princess Switch’s sequel is called ‘The Princess Switch: Switched Again’

It looks like we weren’t the only ones who thoroughly enjoyed the frothy and fun Christmas movie. Netflix recently announced that The Princess Switch will be getting a sequel — The Princess Switch: Switched Again

In the original film, Stacey’s BFF Kevin fell for Duchess Margaret and Stacey fell for the duchess then-fiance — Prince Edward. But in the sequel, it looks like there is some trouble in paradise. According to Netflix’s description,

In the sequel, Duchess Margaret unexpectedly inherits the throne & hits a rough patch with Kevin so it’s up to Stacy to save the day before a new lookalike — party girl Fiona — foils their plans.

It sounds like Hudges, who is also producing the film, will be doing triple duty in this film. We will literally delight in happiness if she is also set to star as Fiona the party girl.

When will ‘The Princess Switch: Switched Again’ premiere?

Unfortunately, there is no word on when The Princess Switch: Switched Again will hit the streaming service. It doesn’t seem like the film will be ready in time for the holiday season, but it might be ready in time for spring or summer.

Vanessa Hudgen’s new holiday movie will debut soon

Though we’ll have to wait for The Princess Switch: Switched Again— we will be seeing Hudgens again on Netflix this holiday season in The Knight Before Christmas. (You live for the title, just admit it.) According to Netflix,

Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Whitehouse star in the perfectly-titled holiday rom-com, The Knight Before Christmas. She plays a kind science teacher who has been disillusioned by love and he’s the cursed medieval knight she must help return to his time.

A bit of love, drama and time travel? What’s not to be obsessed with. While you wait on the second princess flick — The Knight Before Christmas hits Netflix on November 21. This is just one of the many holiday movies Netflix is releasing this year.
