DEAR DEIDRE: IT will be agony attending my friend’s wedding because I long to marry him myself.
I’m a woman of 29 and my childhood sweetheart is 33. Our parents were friends. He’s not happy with his fiancée and it’s not just me who says it – all his family do as well.
In the past I have turned down his offers of marriage because I am an absolute idiot.
I had been through so much trauma and death in my family so I have been afraid of getting close to somebody.
He told me he loved me before he got engaged a few months ago. He works abroad but says he wants to see me as soon as he gets back before the wedding.
I know for a fact that I’ll not be able to see him. If anyone mentions his name or if I speak to him on the phone, I burst into tears. I don’t know what to do.
DEIDRE SAYS: If you genuinely think he is unhappy and settling for second best – and you would like a chance to be the one to make him happy – you need to say now, before he walks down the aisle.
Good luck!
