Mum says water bottle hack is the secret to making your toilet smell lovely

Looking to keep your loo smelling fresh?

You’ll be pleased to know that a mum has shared her simple hack on Facebook.

To pull off the trick, fill a water bottle with diluted fabric softener.

Next, poke some holes in the lid of the plastic container and place it inside the toilet cistern.

Apparently, the bottle will then emit delightful scents each time you flush.

The woman shared more details on Facebook, where her tip was well-received.

She wrote: “Ladies, another trick with the fabric softener for a fresh smelling toilet.

“Half water and half softener and the job is done.”

While the hack has worked for scores of Facebook users, try it at your own risk.

Fabric softener has the potential to damage your plumbing system.

Rachael Hallett, who owns a plumbing company told Daily Mail: “This can definitely damage your cistern.

“You shouldn't put anything in there.

“The seals etc aren't made for anything but water.

“I own a plumbing company and don't recommend them at all.

“Sometimes parts can't even be replaced and a whole new cistern is required. Depends on the brand you have.”
