‘There were tourists chanting her name. Lina was completely surprised. She was dumbfounded, shocked and she didn’t know what to do with herself,’ Veronika told Daily Mail Australia.
‘When David went down on his knee to propose, Lina was so excited, she got down on her knees as well to give him a kiss before he even popped the question.’

Much to her surprise, Lina was lost for words when she spotted the marriage proposal
For the past five months, David and Veronika teamed up to plan the proposal.
‘We kept it a secret for a long time,’ Veronika said, adding that she will be one of the bridesmaids at the wedding.
‘It was tricky trying to figure out how we were going to get her there without her finding out. It was a team effort trying to keep it a secret from everyone but we got there.
‘We wanted the proposal to be somewhere she wouldn’t be suspicious of. So I suggested going to Opera Bar so she would dress up naturally and then David thought it would be a good idea to have it at the Opera House.’
The couple met five years ago through mutual friends during a holiday overseas.
‘And that’s how it all started,’ Veronika, 24, explained.
‘They are a beautiful couple, they’re gorgeous. David has blended in so well with our family, we’re just as close to him as we are to her. He’s like a brother to us.’

At the weekend, Veronika and David carried out the proposal as Lina’s three cousins waited by the steps holding the massive sign.
‘When the group was getting the sign ready, they attracted a large crowd of tourists,’ Veronika said.
‘I had strangers cutting in front of me so they could capture the moment on their phones when I was trying to film the proposal, people were so excited.
‘I was so nervous prior to arriving. But as soon as they got engaged, I was so overwhelmed and overjoyed for them. I love them so much.
‘We had more than 50 family members waiting for us at home after they prepared the engagement party. Both their parents were there, everyone was happy.’
The loved-up couple plan to tie the knot in 2020.
