Four months after coming out as transgender, Nathan Westling, formerly known as Natalie, has made his menswear runway debut.
The 22-year-old model, who was a staple at Prada’s shows prior to his transition, made his runway debut at the Silo Hall of Minsheng Wharf in Shanghai, China, on Thursday for the brand’s spring 2020 collection.
For his turn on the catwalk, the i-D cover star wore a drawstring nylon cap, blue oxford, navy blazer, khaki trousers and black and brown sneakers, carrying an oversized, branded bowler bag.
According to Vogue, Westling is slated to make a few more choice appearances on the menswear runways throughout June.
In the past, the model fronted campaigns for brands like Chanel and Miu Miu and regularly walked the runway for major designers, including Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton.
In March, Westling revealed to CNN Style that he had begun taking testosterone approximately six months prior, and was planning to get top surgery and return to fashion in the future.
“My first two months of the transition were tough, and it wasn’t until I started to see physical changes that aligned with … my mental state that I finally woke up and (started) living,” he told the outlet.
“I’m happy. I can’t even imagine going back to how I was before because it’s just darkness.”
