Michelle Obama on saying ‘Bye Felicia’ to White House and daughter’s final slumber party

Michelle Obama began her 12-stop book tour Tuesday by sitting with Oprah Winfrey before a sold-out audience at the home arena of the Chicago Bulls and telling her about life in the White House. (Nov. 14)

Back on the very first night of her “Becoming” book tour last month, Michelle Obama revealed what was going through her head when she and husband Barack Obama were boarding what had been Air Force One until noon on Jan. 20, 2017. But the line was still just as funny (and delivered more emphatically) when she delivered it Tuesday on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”

As the comedian held up the photo of the couple leaving after the inauguration and began to ask her to walk him through her emotions at that moment, she cut him off: “Bye Felicia!”

It was a read that would make Ice Cube, who first uttered the line in the 1995 comedy “Friday,” proud.

An incredulous Fallon asked, “Is that what was going through your mind?”

“A lot was going on that day,” the former first lady deadpanned. “That was a day.”

Obama also added one detail from the family’s last night in the White House that we don’t recall hearing before.

“Right before that, my daughter’s friends decided they needed a sleepover for the last night,” she revealed. “I was like, ‘Are you guys kidding me? We’re leaving! You gotta take all your stuff – your blankets, your bears.’ They’re all crying and I was like, ‘GET OUT! We gotta go.’ “

Between the unplanned slumber party and the Tiffany’s box (a picture frame from incoming first lady Melania Trump, Obama revealed in January), it was just all A LOT.”
