Cruise holidays aren’t exactly synonymous with a heavy metal scene, but Megadeth is about to change all of that.
In fact, the band is headlining a brand new festival at sea dubbed ‘Megacruise’ and they’re joined by a pretty epic line-up including Anthrax, Testament, Dragonforce, Overkill, Corrosion of Conformity, DevilDriver, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons, Doro, Armored Saint, John 5, Metal Church, Danko Jones, Beasto Blanco and Metalachi.
That’s just the start, as organisers have teased that more acts are set to be announced.
The event describes itself as a ‘playground for the serious Metal fan’ and promises to offer much more than just the live performances and shows.
There will also be a host of Q&As hosted by Eddie Trunk, Luc Carl and Jose Mangin, as well as events ranging from Artist Photo Experiences to music clinics, intimate morning jam sessions, and plenty of promised debauchery.
Meanwhile Megadeth fans can opt for a beer and wine tasting session with Dave Mustaine himself, including a new vintage from Mustaine Vineyards and his À Tout Le Monde beer.
The five-day inaugural Megacruise will be taking place aboard the Norwegian Jewel between, sailing between the 13th-18th October 2019 from Los Angeles and visiting two ports of call in Ensenada, Mexico, and San Diego, California.
Which will include, of course, two heavy metal-filled days of music and events. There’s even an optional pre-cruise party in Los Angeles ahead of the sailing for those who want to give it 100 per cent.
Norwegian Jewel seems like the ideal setting with its 16 restaurants and 15 lounges and bars, ideal for the jam sessions and performances, not to mention passengers can recover from the night before in the spa, hot tubs and pools, or just sleep it off in the sleek cabins.
Sounds like your dream event? Cabins start from $1,349pp (approx £1027), based on double occupancy. You can find out more on the Megacruise website or on Megadeth’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
