Embrace the inner strength of an ox but with far more fashion this year, in honor of the Lunar New Year 2021.

Friday, Feb. 12 marks the end of the Year of the Rat and the beginning of the Year of the Ox in Chinese culture, which follows the lunar calendar as opposed to the sun-dictated Gregorian calendar.

The Ox is a perfect animal for this year, as it is symbolic of hard work, loyalty and perseverance — all of which we should all strive to embody in 2021.

One way to do that is through fashion and there are many brands that think the same, releasing collaborations and new lines featuring the horned animal and the color red — another lucky element in Chinese tradition.

Here are some handbags, shoes and other fashion must-haves to welcome in the Year of the Ox in style.

Coach Lunar New Year Collection, starting at $55

Coach wants to help you carry yourself into the Year of the Ox with its special Lunar New Year 2021 collection.

The star of the collection is the ox, printed onto their signature canvas Field Tote. Other items in the collection celebrate the holiday with pops of lucky red and green, like the staff favorite Lunar New Year Beat Crossbody Clutch, with gold hardware and a jade green tag. Shop the rest of the nine-piece collection for more bags, sunglasses and more.

Lululemon Lunar New Year Collection, starting at $58

Shop the seven-piece collection on the site, which includes items for both men and women, all in red of course. Check out the bestselling Wunder Under leggings that come in two different shades of red, and then snag a matching jacket to complete the lucky look.

Radley London “Strong as an Ox” Collection, starting at $15

Be as strong as the mighty ox, while embracing some feminine flair with the new collection from Radley London.

The handbag company has released three new items, featuring an adorable cartoon ox and their iconic little Scottie dog, too. The design comes on a medium-sized bag made of leather with a zipper closure and detachable crossbody strap. It goes for $318, but if you also love the matching wallet, get it for half of the $118 price when you buy both. If you just want to flaunt the design, they are also selling a reusable cotton cloth tote bag for just $15.

Rastaclat Year of the Ox Bracelet, $22.99

Celebrate the Year of the Ox — and the strength and luck that comes with it — with a bracelet from Rastaclat.

The red bracelet comes in sizes, a small to medium and a medium to large, perfect for the whole family to wear together. Its braided design also features a gold-colored bead with a red image of an ox’s head and horns. This is the sixth-annual release from Rastaclat, which has a mission to “seek the positive” and make change in the world. Also, in honor of Black History Month, they will be donating 1% of net proceeds to the Seek the Positive Foundation.

Sarah Flint Year of the Ox Limited Edition shoes, $395 to $435

Step into the New Year with all the confidence of the ox and twice as much style.

These two shoes are limited-edition launches from Sarah Flint, who debuted the Perfect Pump 85 and the Bennett loafer in matching red suede and croc embossed nappa, the red color symbolizing luck. If you’re looking for the ox, take a peek at the sole and you’ll find a heat-embossed stamp of an ox to prove you are on-trend this year.

Dr. Martens 1461 Chinese New Year Leather Oxfords, $130

What a better way to celebrate the ox than with a pair of Oxfords dressed up for the occasion?

From Dr. Martens, these leather Oxford shoes were designed in honor of the Lunar New Year, taking their iconic three-eye 1461 shoe and giving it a new look for the new year.

“For 2021, our Lunar New Year shoe takes cues from jade, a mineral with a special place in Chinese culture. The shoes are fitted with a jade-colored sole, welt stitch, laces and backstrap print. Plus a jade green decorative charm on a braided red thread. Welted on a rugged air-cushioned sole, they come with a black and jade green sock liner, and commemorative packaging,” explains the website.

The shoes come in both men’s and women’s sizing and run true to size according to the site.

Estee Lauder Collectable Year of the Ox Powder Compact, $200

Put your best face forward as you look to the Lunar New Year’s animal for strength and guidance.

Estee Lauder released a limited-edition compact special for the holiday, which is refillable to use all year long. The case comes filled with Double Wear Pressed Powder in shade Translucent to match any skin tone.

The Ox is a symbol of hard work, peace and justice. People born in this year are extremely honest, intelligent and dependable,” reads the site.
