It is a truth universally acknowledged that Kim Kardashian loves to break the internet, and she certainly had tongues a-wagging following her appearance at the 2021 Met Gala – to which she wore an all black ensemble complete with a mask covering her entire face.

But it’s not just her outfit that stunned us all, as turns out the price tag on her 75-inch ponytail is equally wild. Hey, hair is expensive, but it’s safe to say this price tag is… astronomical.

In a recent Instagram Stories post during a fan Q&A Kim’s hair stylist Chris Appleton revealed that the floor-length style cost an eye-watering $10,000. Yes, we did mean to put four zeros.

"Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Ponytail Cost $10K. Welp," reacted one baffled Twitter user. Another commented, "That is one pricey ponytail!"

Kim’s makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic was also on hand to get the star’s makeup red carpet ready, although many fans questioned the point of all his hard work upon seeing the final look.

"Why? Nobody can see it lol,” one commented on a Make Up By Mario Instagram post in which he can be seen prepping her skin with La Mer products. Meanwhile another added, "What’s really the point tho she’s wearing a whole mask."

However, others were merely appreciative of Mario’s handiwork when it came to the final makeup look (that did then end up under the mask). "Makeup is on point," one said as another commented, “The makeup is a statement on its own! Too bad we didn’t get it pictured in all the Met glory.”

Clearly the pro MUA sees the funny side too, as his beauty brand’s account reposted several memes poking fun at the situation. “If you’re feeling useless today remember that someone had to do Kim’s makeup for the Met Gala.." read one.

To play devil’s advocate, it’s likely that Kim wanted to be made up in the event she had to take the face mask off – a girl’s gotta be prepared for every eventuality, hasn’t she?

Either way, the reality-star-turned-businesswoman clearly has a great sense of humour and was also reposting memes of her look in the days after the event.

"This is literally my sleep paralysis demon standing in the corner of my room," one of the reposted memes read, while another quipped, "Kim Kardashian is serving us 'Women's bathroom sign' realness."

Oh, Kim. Thank you for blessing us with so much meme fodder over the years. Truly a public service.
