Hair to the throne! Princess of Wales reassures a royal fan who missed a salon appointment to come and see her that her locks look ‘wonderful’ during walkabout in Scarborough

  •  Kate Middleton greeted crowds in Scarborough today with Prince William
  •  She told a member of the public that her hair looked ‘wonderful’
  • The royal fan said on a video clip she had missed a hair appointment to see her

The Princess of Wales showed her natural rapport with members of the public as she told a wellwisher her ‘hair looked wonderful’ after the woman revealed she had missed a hair appointment to come out to greet the royal.

The interaction was filmed by a member of the crowd as Kate greeted wellwishers, and a woman could be heard telling the future Queen: ‘I’ve missed my hair appointment’.

Apologetic Kate, told the woman: ‘Ah sorry, it looks wonderful anyway.’

Screaming crowds greeted the Prince and Princess of Wales as they arrived in Scarborough for the charity meet

Kate, 40, who stunned in a camel midi dress and matching £460 Max&Co coat, complete with a £295 DeMellier London handbag and a £60 woven waist belt from Boden, was all smiles as the man eagerly grabbed her attention before asking her for a photo.

Meeting the gentleman’s eye and engaging him in conversation, the mother-of-three put her arm around him before smiling for the camera – and also posed for photos with other royal fans throughout the day including a sweet toddler in a pink Minnie Mouse coat.

According to the Royal Family’s website there are ‘no obligatory codes of behaviour’ when meeting a member of the Royal Family, but there’s an unwritten rule that you shouldn’t go beyond a handshake. However, the younger generation of royals have often shown they’re more open to sharing a hug and a selfie with well-wishers.

The Princess of Wales stepped out with her husband Prince William as they visited the resort town to launch funding to support young people’s mental health, in a collaboration spearheaded by the Royal Foundation.

Kate and Prince William, 40, dressed in a burgundy jumper and blue shirt under a navy jacket, visited The Street – a community hub that hosts organisations to grow and develop their services – where they met the grant panel of young people from the area who will be distributing the funding to local projects.

The duo were greeted by a cheering crowd as they started their day in the North Yorkshire resort to engage with local organisations who will benefit from funding which has been created from a collaboration between The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Two Ridings Community Foundation.

William and Kate began by meeting the grant panel of young people who had decided how the money should be allocated. They will also see first-hand how community organisations are rallying to help those who are struggling with the rising cost of living.

The Royal Foundation and Two Ridings Community Foundation have convened local donors to secure funding to support the work of community-led organisations working with young people in the Scarborough area.

The young people on the panel have themselves been supported by local community organisations and the meeting is a chance to understand how grant decisions were made and learn more about how this funding will make a difference to young people in Scarborough.

Fans donated flowers to the royal, and Kate warmly spoke to royal fans showing her regal poise and grace

Kate and William will then meet three local charitable organisations who are beneficiaries of the funding and see first-hand some of the work they are doing to make a difference in their community as well as the benefit of localised funding.

The couple’s second visit of the day was to The Rainbow Centre, an organisation that offers an open door to the community of Scarborough and help and support to anyone in need.

The Prince and Princess heard from volunteers and staff at the centre around how they create wraparound support for service users which helps to build strong communities that support people practically as well as emotionally.

During the visit, the couple learnt about the work The Rainbow Centre has been doing to help people to cope with the rising cost of living through services such as food and clothes banks as well as offering a place to shower and do laundry.

The Prince and Princess also met with service users to hear first-hand how the centre has impacted their lives.
