Today is the day we have all been waiting for – the John Lewis Christmas advert is finally out.
Forget putting up the Christmas tree, wrapping presents or even Christmas Day itself, for many, the John Lewis Christmas advert has become a tradition, and its release day is one of our favourites of the festive season.
This year's clip centres around a young alien experiencing their first Christmas, complete with mince pies and a novelty jumper as they experience Christmas Day on Earth – with no idea of what is going on.
Leading character Skye, who is a space traveller that just so happens to crash-land amidst the height of festivities, finds themselves in a woods near the home of a 14-year-old Nathan, who goes on to introduce Skye to the traditions of eating mince pies, decorating the tree and, to her slight confusion, wearing novelty jumpers.
Lucky shoppers are able to purchase the Christmas jumper exchanged between Nathan and Skye online and in stores from today.
The jumper, available without the lights in the advert, is a nod to environmental sustainability, and is available to purchase from as little as £14.
10% of profits from every jumper sale goes to the charities FareShare and Home-Start UK.

John Lewis customer director Claire Pointon said: “There is nothing more magical than discovering the joy of Christmas for the first time and enjoying your favourite festive moments with loved ones.

Each product seen in the ad is available to buy from John Lewis, with customers able to “shop key scenes”, including the jumper, decorated Christmas tree and dinner table.
The ad will receive its TV debut at 8.15pm on Thursday on ITV during The Pride of Britain Awards.
