An inside look. On YouTube Original’s 30 Days With: Anuel documentary, music fans got a unique peek at Latin artist Anuel AA‘s unique story alongside producers Jamie Foxx and RD Whittington.

“This project is unique opportunity to tell a universal success story through music,” the Beat Shazam host, 54, said in a statement.
The four-part documentary series — which premiered the first episode on Wednesday, December 29 — chronicles the controversial life of the “Reloj” crooner, 29, throughout his beginnings in the music industry and the story behind his Puerto Rico arrest.
The YouTube Originals special was filmed over 30 days during Anuel’s (real name Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago) probationary period and his “first week of freedom,” per an official statement about the project.
Anuel was previously arrested for gun possession in April 2016 in Puerto Rico and subsequently denied bail despite having no prior record. After the trap artist was sentenced to 30 months in four different prisons, he was released hours after his Real Hasta La Muerte album came out in July 2018.
While the Puerto Rico native was initially hesitant to open up about his story, the 36-year-old WiresOnly founder showed him that “opening up the doors to his world is something the fans are dying for.”
“Anuel has been like a brother to me in the short time that we have known each other, I strongly believe that his story needs to be told with a document — visual,” Whittington said via a statement. “The life he leads and the background he comes from is nothing like most of his fans will ever understand, and now it’s time to open up the curtain to his world.”

He added at the time: “This was not an easy show to make, being that we shot the show in a COVID world, and his work and family obligations sometimes creative roadblocks in areas of his life we wanted to cover, however, he powered through it and we got the gold leads and the background he comes from is nothing like most of his fans will ever understand. … 30 Days With: Anuel is really going to show you all of his world and life, it’s a no holds barred look inside.”
The Oscar winner, for his part, previously gushed about working with the “Secreto” musician on docuseries, which was announced last year.
“I’m just honored to be able to know Anuel and the way it happened, my boy RD, he’s the great connector,” Foxx explained during a joint Billboard interview with Anuel in October 2020. “I met [Anuel] in Miami on his video shoot and then they both started telling me about his story about how he became who he is. When the idea of doing this docuseries came up, I was like, ‘Just let me be a fly on the wall’ because the one thing that I do, if you know my history from Ed Sheeran to Nick Cannon, I just want to take the opportunity to see young talent explode.”
New episodes of 30 Days With: Anuel premiere weekly on Anuel’s YouTube channel.
