It’s official, finally: Maroon 5 will play Super Bowl halftime with Big Boi, Travis Scott

In the least suspenseful Super Bowl announcement ever, the NFL has finally revealed that Maroon 5 will perform at this year’s halftime show in Atlanta with Outkast rapper Big Boi and Travis Scott.

Maroon 5’s headline gig had been a source of feverish speculation for months, but probably not in the way the band hoped: More than 84,000 fans have signed an online petition urging the group to pull out of the show to support Colin Kaepernick and other NFL players who have taken a knee during the national anthem.

“Kaepernick risked his career to take a knee for equality, and the NFL punished him for it,” the petition at Change.org reads. “Until the league changes their policy and support players’ constitutional right to protest, no artists should agree to work with the NFL.”
