Inside Strictly and Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies’ huge net worth

Sara Davies is currently lighting up screens as one of the celebrity faces taking part in Strictly Come Dancing.

The Dragon’s Den star has been doing her best to cha cha all the way to lifting the famous Glitterball as the winner of the current series.

However, while we are getting to know Sara on screen, what is her life like away from the dancefloor? Let’s take a look.

Sara Davies rose to fame as one of the millionaire investors on BBC show Dragon’s Den alongside the likes of Deborah Meaden and Steven Bartlett.

The 37 year old joined the show in 2019 for it’s seventeeth series and fast established herself as a clever investor.

The now TV star is the founder and owner of Crafter’s Companion, which she started while studying at the University of York.

Spotting a gap in the market for an envelope-making tool for card makers, Sara invented one named The Envelope with the help of her engineer Dad.

The business was a huge success and turned over £500,000 by the time she graduated.

Crafter’s Companion is now a creative outlet that stocks everything a craft fan could need and also handy tutorials and demonstrations of the latest trends.

Speaking on her website, Sara says: “I’ve been surrounded by crafts from a young age and I’m really fortunate that I’ve made a career out of doing what I love!”

Crafter's Companion exports to more than 40 countries worldwide, and employs around 200 people.

As a result, the company has enjoyed massive financial success and Sara is estimated to be worth around £37m.

According to reports, the turnover of the company was £25 million in 2018.

However, despite being so wealthy, Sara has previously admitted that she is still careful with money after growing up without a lot.

"Growing up, if something was reduced with a big sticker on it in Asda, we would call it a ‘whoopsie’,” explained Sara to the Sunday People last year.

"Smoked salmon was my mum’s favourite thing but in our house we would only ever buy it if it was ‘on whoopsie’ and greatly reduced.

"I grew up thinking smoked salmon was as luxurious as it gets in the food market.

“To this day, with all the money I have, I will only ever buy smoked salmon in the supermarket if it is on offer.

"To me it is a luxury. It’s how I’ve been programmed – we grew up with very little money. Friends think it’s hilarious.”

This week, Sara is the favourite to be eliminated from the dancing competition.

William Hill have offered odds of 6/4 that the businesswoman will leave the show this week.

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday on BB1.
