Inside Kaz Crossley’s incredible Thailand trip including fundraising mission and building a school

Kaz Crossley has so far helped build a school, house, and gym for a group of children during her incredible trip to Thailand.

The Love Island star, 27, jetted off to Isaan, Thailand, shortly before the new year to help the community who she found through a Muay Thai boxing club, called Wor Watthana.

Speaking about her involvement in the incredible project, Kaz, who shot to fame on the ITV dating show back in 2017, recently told OK!: "I was in Thailand doing the two week quarantine because that was the rules to enter at the time and I had a really nice massive villa I was staying in.

"I was by myself and I was watching their [Instagram] stories and I just felt guilty almost that I was staying in this amazing villa with a massive pool literally all to myself and I was watching these kids who literally had nothing. So I made the decision to go and visit them as soon as I was done with my quarantine."

Kaz has since documented her trip on Instagram, where she's shared snaps of her working with the children, as well as the spectacular home that's been built.

The gorgeous two-storey house boasts six bedrooms and four bathrooms, as well as a balcony.

Boom, the owner of Wor Watthana, initially set up a fundraiser for the home but donations were lacking as the pandemic continued.

Kaz joined forces with Boom, and they soon smashed the original target of £40,000 and went on to raise a total of £85,000 for the project.

Speaking about the construction process, Kaz told OK!: "The workers worked so hard that they actually built little tiny shacks next to the house on the land, where they actually slept. So the workers didn't actually go home, they slept at the building site. It was pretty amazing how much dedication and work it took."

Kaz has also been busy raising further funds to help build housing for visitors, with her target being £25,000.

The star completed a 27km run on 20 January, which was also her 27th birthday.

Kaz, along with the group of children she's working with, completed the gruelling run and have been fundraising via online site GoGetFunding.

On the GoGetFunding page, Kaz wrote: "The housing will consist of three furnished, air conditioned bungalows. They will be located right next to the gym, house, and school. This will be a permanent community, providing jobs to the kids when they are older and also many generations after, forever!"

Sharing a series of snaps after triumphantly completing the run, Kaz told her followers: "We did it!!! I ran 27k on my 27th birthday alongside my babies."

She then explained how she'd completed the run in three and a half hours, while Boom crossed the finish line after just two hours.

Following the run, the group all tucked into an array of junk food, including takeaway pizzas and KFC chicken.

Kaz took to her Instagram Stories to share footage of everyone enjoying their lunch together, where she explained: "Ken's first time eating pizza. He's nearly eleven years old. He said it's delicious.

"even tho the pizza is cold (the closest pizza restaurant is an hour away) the kids seem happy."

The 27 year old also posted a video of an enormous bouncy castle and two giant trampolines which had been installed outside for the kids to play on after the 27km run.

Kaz wrote: "Because they deserve it!", before explaining how she couldn't even "walk right now", so wasn't going to join in the fun on the trampolines.

Kaz has told how the combination of her love of Muay Thai, her multicultural background, in addition to her own mum growing up in poverty inspired her to "give back to this community".

The Love Island star said: "Honestly, I feel like these kids have helped me more than I've helped them. It's mad, they've completely changed the way I look at life.

"They inspire me. When I feel like I'm struggling all I need to do is think about them – that's what real struggling is. They motivate me and they just keep me going."

She continued: "I love them so so much and I can't thank them enough really, because I owe them a lot."
