Gogglebox husband and wife duo Giles Wood and Mary Killen have been on our screens since 2015 and have been married over three decades.

The couple have become renowned for their eccentric ways and funny one-liners. They live in a Wiltshire farmhouse, which is strikingly decorated and wallpaper that matches their furniture.

Mary and Giles met when they were both 21. Mary was working at the time as a model while Giles was studying at Wimbledon Art College. Although they are considered one of the poshest couples of Gogglebox and are reported to be friends with Boris Johnson, their house in Wiltshire is in need of some repair.

A few years ago, the couple revealed that paint had started peeling from their ceilings and they had to create makeshift double glazing with bubble wrap! They dubbed their home ‘The Grottage.’

The couple also revealed at the time that their farmhouse had no central heating and that their kitchen was ‘worse than Benefits Street’ and was full of mould.

Aside from this, they have been living in their Wiltshire home for over 28 years and it is the base for where they record Gogglebox.

Away from the show, former model Mary is a journalist and often writes for The Spectator. She wrote her own book How the Queen Can May You Happy, which was published in 2012. Giles is a reputable artist and contributes to The Oldie.

Although Giles and Mary’s children do not appear on the show, the couple share two grown up daughters who prefer to stay out of the limelight. One of them was originally due to appear alongside her father on the show but backed out at the last moment. Giles was able to convince his wife to come on board after a call with producers.

The couple have also addressed the reason why they both have the pet name ‘nutty.’

“We call each other ‘nutty’ because we both consider the other to be a bit mad,” Mary said. “Certainly, Gils has multiple personality disorder so he’s all sorts of people and one of them is a bit of a genius. The truth is we’re both neurotic.”

Before the return of Gogglebox to our screens, the couple shared a throwback photograph of themselves from years ago. In the picture, Mary is wearing a black and white top covered in heart shapes and a straw hat while Giles is dressed in shorts and an unusual hat.
