Will shared that important aspects of an easy to train dog is handler engagement and eagerness to please.
‘When you’re looking at an easy to train breed, the main thing on your mind is handler engagement and eagerness to please – and, if they’re driven by food, that’s even better,’ he said.
‘That combination creates incredibly easy to train dogs,’ he added.
The professional revealed that Belgian Malinois are used for incredibly high level working capabilities all around the world because of their dutiful behaviour.
Another breed with discipline is the Border Collie.
‘They’re one of the most intelligent dog breeds from an IQ perspective and you’ll see so many of them competing in obedience competitions,’ he said.
Will’s personal favourite is the Labrador Retriever, which is one of the ‘most trainable’ dog breeds in the world.

As Will has spent several years around all types of dogs, the specialist has a keen understanding of breeds that tend to be more gentle and less prone to violence or aggression.
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is ‘one of the sweetest, most gentle dog breeds on the planet’ and ‘rarely displays any sort of negative behaviours, especially in the form of aggression.’
Although quite gentle, Golden Retrieves are also ‘boisterous’ and ‘playful’ when they’re young – which can cause accidents.
‘St Bernards are gentle giants,’ Will said. ‘They’re beautiful, mellow, and chill. Just an overall joy to be around.’
