Princess Eugenie posted a photo of herself with her husband and baby on Instagram today. In the caption, she announced the name of her son, who was born on February 9.

It was announced by the princess today that her baby is called August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

He is the ninth great-grandchild of the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh and is currently the 11th in line to the throne.

The name is a touching tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh.

However, the baby’s first name derives from the Roman name Augustus.

The month of August was named after Rome’s first emperor, Caesar Augustus.

Augustus was also the second name of Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert.

In the photo posted today, baby August is seen wrapped in a blue blanket and is held by both his mother and father.

Royal body language expert, Judi James, spoke to about what this photo reveals about the parents.

“These are wonderfully non-royal-looking poses from Jack and Eugenie,” said Judi.

She added the couple have adopted a “kind of casual, bare-faced and very natural look that we have only ever seen once before from the royals, when Kate did her recent bare-faced selfie-style message for social media”.

Judi referred to Kate Middleton’s recent selfie video, posted on social media ahead of Children’s Mental Health Week earlier this month.

Like Kate, Eugenie is not wearing much make-up in this photo.

“The couple look totally wrapped up in their new baby,” said Judi.

The body language expert compared the parents’ appearances in front of the camera, saying: “Jack’s wide beaming smile as he presents his boy to the camera signals excitement and pride, but Eugenie’s facial expression only really appears to come alive when she’s looking at her son rather than the camera.”

Judi said this suggests that Eugenie is “keen to get back to being a loving group of three again instead”.

Judi compared Jack’s body language to Prince Harry’s in previous images of him with baby Archie, noting: “Like Harry, Jack has adopted the role of ‘baby-carrier’ for the pose to suggest a more involved role than we are used to see in the previous generation of men in the royal family.

“Holding your first-born can be tricky enough but tilting it towards the camera could be nerve-wracking,” Judi added.

“But the lack of any apparent tension in Jack’s fingers here suggests a confident approach to fatherhood.”

The body language expert also commented on Eugenie’s outfit, in particular her headband: “The one slightly out-of-place looking thing in this very down-to-earth and casual moment is the wide gold headband atop Eugenie’s head, looking almost like a small crown.

“The way this is worn despite the dress-down vibe suggests this could be a silent nod of affection to her mother Sarah, for who this ‘Sloane Ranger’ accessory is a signature look.”
