Colleagues are making my life hell after I asked out a woman at work | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: EVER since I asked out a girl who I like, my colleagues have made my life hell.

I can’t understand what I’ve done wrong.

They make snide comments and give me the silent treatment.

I’m a man aged 34 and I have worked for a marketing company for four years.

Until now I always got on well with my workmates.

Around a year ago a new woman started with us and I was instantly attracted to her.

From our first conversation we hit it off. She would always flirt with me and I’d often catch her stealing glances.

I believed our feelings were mutual so I texted her to ask her out on a date.

To my surprise she never responded, and ever since my workmates have acted odd.

Now they refuse to acknowledge me and have started excluding me from our after-work drinks.

What have I done wrong?

DEIDRE SAYS: You haven’t done anything wrong, and their behaviour is completely out of order.

They have no reason to exclude you for taking the leap and asking this girl out. Perhaps you should take the time to talk to them and ask why they are acting this way.

If nothing improves, speak to your manager or HR about their behaviour.

While you don’t have to like your colleagues, it’s not fair for them to make you feel uncomfortable in your workplace.
