Celebrity chef James Martin has hit out at Brits ‘obsession’ with healthy eating and poked fun at food bloggers like Joe Wicks who pedal diet-friendly recipes.
The former Saturday Kitchen host, who famously lost 6 stone, told Woman’s Own that he ‘doesn’t give a s*** about’ fad diets.
The TV chef, who is currently rehearsing for his new touring show, said he didn’t understand the hype surrounding Wicks’ famous Lean in 15 regime, jokingthat his new show should be called ‘Fat in Five’.
He told the magazine: ‘I like what I like. I think we’re the only country in the world that eats what we want 11 months of the year and moans for four weeks after Christmas!’

James, 46, who lives with long-term girlfriend Louise Davies, was asked for his thoughts on Joe ‘The Body Coach’ Wicks, famous for his healthy eating plans and High Intensity Interval training workouts.
The Yorkshireman, who at one point weighed 19 stone 7 lbs, replied: ‘My chef Chris told me to watch him, saying, “All the women rave about him!”
‘He’s got Lean in 15 – I should call mine Fat in Five! I’m not saying everyone has to eat butter and cream and all that, but why are we obsessed with this? What’s wrong with just great food?’

The Home Comforts author was then quizzed on his motivation for shedding 6 stone, and explained it was down to ‘nerves’ and ‘the power of social media’ – revealing that cruel online trolls had called him a ‘fat b*****d’.
‘But I didn’t munch on couscous,’ he added. ‘I started eating one steak instead of two.
‘I like food. I’ve been surrounded by it all my life. I’m 6ft 3in – I’m never going to be 8st, but I don’t think I’m massive either.’
Martin also addressed speculation that he could be in the running to present Top Gear, saying: ‘I enjoy cars as a hobby, but doing it as a job is another thing.’
Martin’s weight has fluctuated over the years. He famously lost 4 stone for Strictly Come Dancing in 2005, and revealed in May this year he had lost a further stone.
